NCTNCT pre-checks and fail repairs
We check your car before the test, and repair what's on the fail sheet before the retest, at your home or at work.
Failed the NCT? Send us the fail sheet
Take a photo of the fail sheet and send it on WhatsApp. We'll tell you what needs doing and what it will cost.
Before the test
What a pre-NCT check covers
The test looks at the parts of the car that keep it safe and roadworthy. A check beforehand finds the common faults, such as a blown bulb, worn wiper blades or a tyre below the 1.6 mm limit, so they're fixed before the test.

Lights
Every bulb, and the aim
Every light must work, from the headlamps and brake lights to the number plate light, and the headlamps must be aimed correctly. Both are quick to check and fix before the test.

Questions
Can you carry out the NCT?
No. Only NCTS centres carry out the test. We prepare the car for it and repair anything that fails.
What happens after a fail?
The test centre gives you a fail sheet listing each item. Once the repairs are done, you book the retest.
Is a check before the test worth it?
It finds the common faults before the test, such as bulbs, wipers, tyres and brakes, so they're fixed beforehand rather than after a fail.
